MANDAUE CITY, CEBU — Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) reached another milestone in its journey of expansion and innovation with the Topping Off Ceremony of its highly anticipated PVL Building on the morning of August 4, 2025.
The event gathered CDU’s Top Management, College Deans, Administrative and Academic Heads, and the construction team, together with representatives of Dakay Construction and Development Corporation (DCDC) — the project’s general contractor. Engr. Pericles Dakay, CEO of DCDC, joined the ceremony and delivered a congratulatory message emphasizing the collaboration and vision behind the project.

The PVL Building, under construction in the heart of CDU’s campus, is designed to be a 16-storey landmark structure featuring a basement, a helipad, and multiple state-of-the-art facilities. The new building promises more classrooms, modern laboratories, and versatile spaces that will support CDU’s ongoing growth—not only in medical and allied health programs, but also in business, engineering, and other future academic offerings.
Dr. Philip Anthony S.D. Larrazabal, CDU President and Chairman of the Board, shared the University’s excitement and vision for the new facility. He announced that partial operations of some levels and classrooms are targeted to hopefully begin by September 2025, ensuring that the CDU community will soon benefit from the additional spaces. Currently, parking areas up to Level 5 have been opened to the public, with the potential to expand as needed.

The topping off ceremony was held on Level 8, a floor that will soon house enhanced amphitheaters and special offices such as the Partnerships, Linkages, and Internationalization Office (PLIO) and the Gender and Development (GAD) Office. Mr. Jerome L. Coligado, Vice President for Administration, highlighted that these dedicated areas reflect CDU’s commitment to fostering global partnerships, gender equality, and holistic institutional development.

The PVL Building marks a historic step in CDU’s expansion, following its groundbreaking on February 22, 2022. Once fully operational, the building will redefine the University’s learning environment by providing modern, future-ready facilities that align with CDU’s mission of producing globally competitive and service-oriented professionals.
With the topping off completed, CDU’s vision of a bigger, better, and more innovative campus is closer than ever.
